Denver International Airport recorded the busiest month in its history in July with more than 5.1 million passengers, despite the recession. The previous record was 5 million passengers in July 2008.
Kim Day, aviation manager for the city-owned airport, said Wednesday the July record is an indication of the strength of the Denver aviation market. It's the first time since August 2008 that monthly airport traffic increased over the previous year.
Despite the July surge, year-to-date traffic at the airport is down 3.6 percent from the same period last year. A record 51.2 million passengers used DIA in 2008.
