DENVER (AP) - Defense attorneys in the Aurora movie theater shooting case say the Arapahoe County district attorney made inappropriate comments about the upcoming trial that are further evidence the trial should be moved.
The defense says District Attorney George Brauchler told a reporter he wants the case tried in Arapahoe County and talked about his fairness and sense of justice.
According to the Denver Post, the defense said in a filing made public Tuesday those comments could bias jurors against James Holmes, who is accused of killing 12 people and injuring 70 in the 2012 attack.
A spokeswoman for the district attorney on Tuesday declined comment.
Holmes has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.
