Two deadly shootings that took place on February 12th could now be directly related to each other. It all started when 45-year-old Pedro Solis-Astorga's body was found at Fountain Creek Park near East 13th Street in Pueblo. He had been shot multiple times in the back.
Just a short time later police responded the reported suicide of 18-year-old William Baros Jr. He had been shot in the head. During the investigation 19 year old Devin Downey told police he and another friend moved Baros' body and moved the weapon explains Capt. Dayton Robinson with Pueblo Police.
When police interviewed Downey about Baro's death the conversation turned to Pedro Solis-Astorga's death.
"Everything that was told to us just didn't make any sense," says Robinson. "What we didn't know was that the 2 deaths were tied together in some respect." What Downey admitted shocked police. "Something took place and he indicated that he had shot Mr. Solis," says Robinson.
It seems Downey was present for both men's shooting deaths. Baros' death which was reported to investigators as a suicide now has a cloud of doubt looming over it. "We don't know if he (Baros) was maybe going to go to the police and possibly he was killed for that," says Robinson.
