Dealership owner donates trip to wounded warriors

COLORADO SPRINGS - The owner of the local Porsche dealership gave two wounded warriors and their wives a VIP trip to Hollywood to thank them for their service. Don Hicks of Porsche of Colorado Springs made the winning bid of $4,250 for the trip at a charity fundraiser auction for the Memorial Health Foundation earlier this month.

Hicks says he knew immediately that he wanted to use the prize to give back to the community.

"We thought, what better way than to take some people that are responsible for our freedom and give them the trip of a lifetime."

Hicks and his wife gave the tickets to SSG Johnathan Benton, Sgt. Tyler Adams of Fort Carson's Warrior Transition Unit this morning at the dealership.

"We're rather excited and pretty blown away by the fact that the Hicks were so kind as to do something like this," Benton said.

"This has been incredible," Adams added. "It's more than me and my wife ever expected."

The soldiers will leave aboard a private jet on Thursday. While they're in Los Angeles they will get to attend tapings of the Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Ellen courtesy of News 5. Hicks and his wife also purchased $1,000 gift cards for the soldiers to pay their meals.
