Deadly auto accident under investigation in Pueblo

Investigators from the Pueblo Police Department are sifting through evidence and statements following a fatal single vehicle accident that took place in the 400 block of Michigan. A statement from police details that a 1997 Chevy Lumina was traveling west on Michigan which merges on to Grant Ave when it failed to make the merge. The vehicle jumped a curb and collided into the rear of Central High School. Of the two occupants of the vehicle, one died at the scene, while the other is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The deceased victim's identity has not yet been released, pending next of kin notification. Investigators believe that alcohol and excessive speed were factors in the accident. An investigation is on going.
