Early Saturday morning, Linda Sanchez received a call no mother ever wants to get. "She said I hate to tell you this over the phone but we found your son dead." explains Sanchez. Her son, 38 year old Cleveland Flood, an inmate at the Sterling Correctional Facility was found dead in his cell.
Sanchez asked the prison staff member on the phone how her son died. "I asked her was there any blood or anything? She said no, there was no blood." she explains, "She said there is nothing wrong with him. That's why we don't know if it was a homicide or suicide."
A crime scene photo was leaked by someone on the prison staff this week. It clearly shows a large amount of blood around Flood's body. Sanchez says the Department of Corrections Lied to her about her son's death. For balanced coverage we asked the D.O.C. "At this point for me it's a he said she said kind of thing." says Katherine Sanguinetti, Spokesperson for the Department of Corrections, "I have talked to the staff up there and it seems to me from the reports that I've read, they reported the death correctly and notified that it was a suspected homicide."
Even so, Sanchez says all she wants are some answers. "I want to know who did it." she says with her eyes full of tears, "I want to know who stabbed him to death and why."
