NORTHGLENN, Colo. (AP) - Authorities say a suburban Denver man suspected of setting his home on fire with his two children inside remains hospitalized, as do the children.

Northglenn Police Sgt. Ron Haralson says the three were in critical condition Saturday evening but, for now, no additional information will be released. Firefighters rescued 26-year-old William Johnson and his 5-year-old and 18-month-old children from their home early Thursday morning.

Johnson's estranged wife called authorities to the home after she arrived to check on the children following an earlier incident at her home in Aurora. The woman said Johnson assaulted her, and then ran inside.

Aurora police say about 2 1/2 hours before the fire, the wife reported Johnson was driving across her lawn. Northglenn officers intercepted him on his way home but let him go after seeing the children were fine.
