PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. (AP) - An Air Force chief master sergeant is sharing the spotlight of her retirement ceremony with her father, a Vietnam veteran who received a long-overdue Bronze Star.

Nancy Geisler (GUY'-sler) retired this week after 27 years in the Air Force, most recently with the Space Command at Peterson Air Force Base.

When Geisler learned her father, Daniel Porter, never received the Bronze Star he was supposed to get more than 40 years ago, she arranged with the Army to get it.

Army Col. Timothy Coffin, deputy commander of the Army Space and Missile Defense Command, pinned the medal to Porter's suit jacket during Geisler's retirement ceremony on Monday.

The Air Force Space Command says Porter was a sergeant first class with the 4th Infantry Division. He served in Vietnam in 1969-1970.
