A raptor rehabilitation center in Fort Collins is putting its property up for sale -- two weeks after
asking the public for donations to help with a rising demand to help injured birds.
But officials at the Rocky Mountain Raptor Program say the timing of the sale has nothing to do with their earlier plea for donations. Executive Director Judy Scherpelz says the move will strengthen the group financially and that they would be making the sale "regardless of the caseload or cash flow."
The Raptor Program plans to sell all or part of its 27-acre Fort Collins property, and possibly move to a new location. The Raptor Program expects to treat 372 birds by the end of the year, up from a record 264 in 2008.
