Pueblo County School District 70 got some unexpected news from the Pueblo County Assessor related to a November bond issue.

Because of the increased tax assessment of a new Black Hills Energy power plant north east of Pueblo, more money will be available to local government entities.

This means if voters pass a $59 million bond issue in November, their taxes won't go up.

Planned construction includes enclosed vestibules at all schools for security purposes, replacing portable classrooms across the district and new construction at Pueblo West High School as well as other schools.
