Curbside recycling now available in Pueblo

A company in Pueblo is trying to make it easier for people to go green. We Recycle is now offering curbside recycling in Pueblo and Pueblo West. They accept plastic, aluminum, paper and glass. The easy part is, you can put all your items in one bag and they do the separating.

According to Jenny Kedward at the Pueblo City-County Health Department, We Recycle is the only company to offer curbside recycling in Pueblo right now. "Our goal was never to really be the end all solution of recycling in this town, is was more to be the catalyst," said Justin Parker, owner of We Recycle in Pueblo West. "Somebody had to take that leap of faith and get it going and we did and we're excited about it," he added.

We Recycle charges $9 a month for curbside recycling. Members also have the option of combing the recycling service with trash service, for a fee of $49.95 a quarter. Plus, members can drop off recyclables at their center located at 24A Research Dr. in Pueblo West. The phone number for We Recycle is 719-542-6327.

"We have about 800 members, and in the last week since we just started offering curbside recycling, we picked up about 100 new members," said Parker. "People of Pueblo are definitely behind this and support it, which is great," he added.

Parker says his company recently received a grant from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment to offer recycling programs in more locations. "We're going to be opening three more centers in Southern Colorado," said Parker. He says they haven't chosen those locations yet. "We're going to be looking for the communities that really want it the most," said Parker.
