COLORADO SPRINGS - A Colorado Springs grandmother has been arrested and charged with taking her grandkids shoplifting. According to the Colorado Springs Police Department, Trina Chavez-Hutchins, 43, took her 7 and 10-year-old grandchildren to Sportsmans Warehouse on Chelton Rd. to shoplift on Sunday. CSPD says cameras caught Chavez-Hutchins and her grandaughter placing items in a basket. A witness told police that Chavez-Hutchins ran out of the store yelling, "run, hurry, get in the car!" The witness was able to give police a license plate number, which led them to Chavez-Hutchins. Police recovered half of the $360.00 in items that were taken from the store.
Chavez-Hutchins was charged with theft as well as felony contributing to the delinquency of a minor. DHS was contacted as well.
