CSPD busts heroin trafficking ring after year-long investigation

19 people in Colorado Springs are under arrest this morning as part of a heroin trafficking organization, police say.

This investigation began in May 2011, with officers from Metro Vice, Narcotics, and Intelligence, and included undercover operations.

They say the ring was dealing heroin to local high school students.

Officers made arrests of several key members on June 5, and from there, they say they were able to arrest more people involved in the ring.

They were also able to recover 2 lbs. of heroin, 3 ounces of cocaine, 3 handguns, 2 vehicles, and $14,500 USD.

Of the 19 arrested, eight were under the age of twenty-one. Those arrested include:
