While fire crews are battling the Eight Mile Fire in Fremont County, the community is working to gather supplies to support the firefighters. Crosses for Losses, the grassroots emergency relief organization from Black Forest, is in Fremont County gathering donations.
Right now their priority is helping fire crews, unless mandatory evacuations are issued, in which case they would switch to helping those families as well. The group said they are in need of monetary donations, and supplies for firefighters. They do not need any clothing, toys, hot meals or any more Gatorade.
Here’s a list of items the group is trying to collect for firefighters:
Nasal spray Eye drops
Gum or hard candy
First aid kits
Contact lens cases and fluid
They say these are items firefighters take with them out in the field, and travel size is best. All donations should be brought to Alco, 1711 Fremont Dr., Canon City, on Sunday. Saturday night, they can be dropped off at the Fire Station on 15th and Central in Canon City. Monetary donations can be made using PayPal, email email@example.com.
