Fire investigators are trying to figure out what sparked a house fire in east Colorado Springs Cimarron Hills, Sunday morning. Crews were called out to the 1100 block of Kachina Drive around 4 a.m.

Witnesses say flames were shooting out from the roof of the home. One person was inside the home when the fire was going; crews we're able to help them escape. Luckily, they didn't have any injuries.

No word yet on a damage estimate, but a large portion of the home burned to the ground and flames just kept popping back up.

"The far left side of the home was involved, it's a tri-level home; the bedrooms and the garage portion on the right are still intact, but the left side of the home, about a third to a half of the house is involved," says Chief Matt Love with the Cimarron Hills Fire Department.

Chief Love says Cimarron Hills has a program to help people displaced because of fires and disasters like that, he says they'll activate it to help out.
