Crews containing 2 southern Colorado fires

Firefighters spent Saturday mopping up and securing the two fires; the Bear and Purgatoire Fires located in Las Animas County

The Bear Fire has burned 6885 acres. The Purgatoire Fire is still burning 6140 acres. Both fires are putting up very little smoke and are looking to be 100 percent contained.

Some smoke will still be visible at times from the interior of the fire but the large amount of haze in the area is from large wildfires burning in Arizona and New Mexico.

Friday 200 people were assigned to these fires. There will be a large number of resources released after today's work shift.

The public is still being asked to stay out of the area unless they are residents. There are road restrictions in place on Grey Creek Road near the Bear Fire. Only residents are allowed past road restrictions.

Crews will continue working towards containment and securing of fire lines on both fires.
