Crews Battling Oklahoma Wildfires

Crews are battling several wildfires in Oklahoma Sunday.

The largest is near Guthrie, Oklahoma where officials say 300-500 acres of land have burned.  The fire has also destroyed several homes and is threatening others.  No injuries have been reported as of late Sunday afternoon.

High winds, dry weather and warm temperatures have created the perfect recipe for grass fires in Oklahoma.  Temperatures topped out in upper 90°s to near 100° across Oklahoma Sunday.

Clear skies over the central Plains has made it easy to spot smoke plumes from the fires on satellite imagery.  The image above was taken 5:15pm MT Sunday.
