Court to decide whether to try homicide suspect as adult

COLORADO SPRINGS - The teenage suspect of a double homicide that claimed the lives of a Fort Carson Soldier and his pregnant wife may be tried as a juvenile rather than as an adult. Macyo January, 17, is accused of shooting and killing SSG David Dunlap and his wife Whitney Butler during a burglary at their home on Bassett Drive on back on January 14.

Today in court, January's attorney's requested a reverse-transfer hearing to have his case heard in juvenile court. Prosecutors have charged as an adult with 1st Degree Murder, Burglary, Theft and Aggravated Motor Vehicle Theft.
The reverse-transfer hearing is scheduled for May 29.
