It's no secret to anyone living in Colorado Springs. The city has a major budget issue. Monday will bring more of those issues for the future into light. "It's a full time crisis and we need to act like it's a crisis starting now." says Councilman Sean Paige, "We need to start making those adjustments right now in my view."
According to figures from the chief financial officer the city is looking at multi-million dollar shortfalls for the 2011, 2012 and 2013 budgets. The findings will be presented to the city council Monday a1 1pm. Paige knows balancing the shortfalls won't be easy. "I think we really need to get aggressive about outsourcing." he says, "Maybe even selling some assets."
Paige hopes by attacking the problem early, they can avoid some of the problems faced in the last year. "The quicker that we can make the adjustments that will hopefully prevent us from doing the kind of draconian cuts that we just got through with." he explains.
