The Colorado Springs City Council has approved a motion to charge applicants $2,200 for a medical marijuana business application. The fee will include a city background check in addition to the background check already done by the stare.
Originally council was expected to vote on a large fee structure for medical marijuana businesses. Owners of mmj businesses argued the fee structure was unfair to their businesses and were too high.
Councilman Tim Leigh proposed that council only vote on the application fee so the city could "get the ball rolling" and could then take a closer look at the other fees.
