A woman found dead in the yard of a residential neighborhood Saturday died from hypothermia. Teller County Coroner Al Born confirmed Monday that Joey Michelle Carlson, 34, froze to death. There were no other signs of trauma or foul play. Carlson's body was discovered around 10:30 Saturday morning near the intersection of Forest Hill Road and Forest Edge Circle. Woodland Park police and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation were investigating the case. The Woodland Park Police Chief said his department would treat the case as suspicious until evidence proved otherwise. Born said it will likely take more than a month for toxicology results for Carlson to come back from the lab. That will help determine if drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in Carlson's death.
