Coroner confirms Boulder murder-suicide

Boulder police say a flooring and fireplace store employee whose body was found in the store along with bodies of the couple who owned it is suspected of shooting and killing them before killing himself.

Police said Tuesday that 50-year-old Robert Montgomery may have been upset about a change in sales commissions and bonuses. Beckner says officers found the bodies of Montgomery, 40-year-old Sean Griffin and 41-year-old Staci Griffin of Longmont inside Boulder Stove & Flooring on Monday, after a customer and sales employee heard gunshots in a back office.

A coroner determined Sean Griffin died of gunshot wounds to the head, chest and abdomen, while Montgomery committed suicide by shooting himself in the head. An autopsy is planned Wednesday for Staci Griffin.
