COPPER MOUNTAIN (AP)-Copper Mountain Resort says it plans to build a new chairlift this summer to replace one that's more than 30 years old.

The High Point double chair at the base of Union Creek has served Copper Mountain since 1976.

Copper plans to replace it with a lift that can transport up to 2,400 people per hour. The ride time from Union Creek to mid-mountain will be about five minutes, which is a fraction of the time the ride takes now.
