A local church treated some hungry families in Colorado Springs with a barbeque. Some 200 members of the Sunrise Methodist Church volunteered their time to host this picnic lunch at the Marion House soup kitchen Saturday afternoon.

Church members brought all the food and even provided some live entertainment. Parishioner Gary Wiensch and his wife started the cook-out three years ago after reading about a similar event in a church magazine. They say it's grown ever since.

"It's one of the most rewarding things I do all year long," Wiensch said. "I've always felt like I'm here to serve, but this is probably the ultimate for me when it comes to serving. I just love it."

He says one of the reasons they enjoy holding the barbeque is because it gives people there a bit of change from the ordinary.
