Lake Pueblo State Park will start work on the drinking water system on the north side of the Pueblo Reservoir on January 3.
The Juniper Breaks Campground and the Northern Plains Campground will close Jan. 3 for all users, including campers, hikers, joggers, bicyclists and dog walkers because of safety concerns.
"During construction, there will be open trenches and heavy equipment in the campgrounds each day. We want to prevent accidents and protect visitors," said Brad Henley, manager at Lake Pueblo State Park. "During construction, park visitors should use extra caution because of the construction vehicles and other project-related traffic."
Effective immediately and through May 1, reservations will not be accepted at those two campgrounds.
There may also be additional road closures during the construction.
