Congressman Tipton tours Pinon Canyon training site

3rd District Congressman Scott Tipton (R) toured the Pinon Canyon training facility north east of Trinidad today along with representatives from Bent, Otero and Las Animas counties.
Tipton said he's been assured there are no plans at this time by the Army to ask for an expansion of the massive training facility, which was purchased in 1983 and covers 238,000 acres.
Area ranchers have fought in recent years to keep the Army from expanding. Tipton admitted a wariness in the local community when it comes to the Army.
Tipton will hold a Town Hall Meeting in Trinidad tonight.
