Conference reputation tarnished?

HOOVER, Ala. (AP) - The legal problems of current and former SEC players have cast a negative light on the league that has won seven consecutive national championships. The most high-profile by far has been the murder charges against ex-Florida and NFL tight end Aaron Hernandez. More pertinent to the upcoming Southeastern Conference season, LSU running back Jeremy Hill remains indefinitely suspended while facing a misdemeanor simple battery charge from an April 27 scuffle in a bar parking lot. Coaches at SEC media days this week insisted they do their best to keep players behaving and recruit players with character. Florida's Will Muschamp says he can't know what every player is doing every night. He also says coaches "can't stick your head in the sand and pretend everything is OK."
