Concrete canoe race scheduled today

About 400 students will get together this afternoon in Colorado Springs to show off their engineering skills in a fun competition.
It's the 2011 American Society of Civil Engineers Rocky Mountain Student Conference. About 400 students, cadets, and faculty members from 16 different schools from the United States and Mexico participate in projects and competitions including concrete canoe design and racing, the concrete canoe swamp test, steel bridge construction, can-structure design, and a mystery design activity.
It starts at 1 p.m. near Prospect Lake Drive and Moreno.
