Vanguard Church is hosting a community discussion Monday night (April 12) on homosexuality. Focus on the Family, The Pikes Peak Gay and Lesbian Center, The Independent, and Vanguard are all participating in the discussion.
"By adding a name and a face, it enables you to learn some one's story and say, 'You know what? I don't agree with them, but I can see where they're coming from. I can have a compassion for them,'" says Kelly Williams, senior pastor of Vanguard Church.
Williams says discussions like this one helps all sides of the issue develop a level of trust.
"Trust gives you the ability to hear people a little better and the ability to show compassion for one another, even if we disagree with each other," says Williams.
This is the fourth such discussion hosted by Vanguard, the second on the topic of homosexuality.
The discussion is free and open to the public. It begins at 7 p.m.
