The Colorado Springs City Council has given preliminary approval to a funding plan for the rest of 2010 for the Deerfield Hills, Hillside, and Meadows Park community centers, Cottonwood Creek Recreation Center, Therapeutic Recreation programs for youth, and community sports programs for at-risk youth.

The plan still must be approved twice at public meetings, the first on April 13.

Last December the council only approved the facilities' funding for three month. Since then community involvement and partnerships with outside agencies has grown. City Council indicated that it will grant funding for the remainder of 2010 to give staff and community members more time to continue looking at sustainable funding options for the future.

Budget projections continue to show funding problems through 2013.
