El Paso County Commissioners voted 4-1 Thursday morning to put two questions on the November ballot asking voters whether to allow commissioners, the county treasurer, clerk and recorder, assessor, and surveyor to seek election to a third four-year term. If passed, the term-limits extension would apply to current holders of those positions.

Commission chair Dennis Hisey and commissioners Amy Lathen, Sallie Clark, and Wayne Williams voted in favor of the resolutions. Commissioner Jim Bensberg cast the dissenting vote.

The El Paso County Surveyor is a part-time position that pays $6,500 per year. All other positions in question pay $87,300 per year, a pay rate established by the Colorado State Legislature.
