DENVER (AP) - Hundreds flocked to the U.S. Mint in Denver to buy gold coins commemorating the 50th anniversary of the John F. Kennedy half dollar.
The coin went on sale Tuesday morning. But it cost a lot more than 50 cents - the coins were sold for $1,240.
Lines in Denver stretched several blocks.
Five hundred of the proof sets were available for sale in Denver Tuesday, and then 100 each on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
The coins also went on sale at U.S. Mints in Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.
