Commander at Peterson Air Force Base retiring

PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. (AP) - The commander of a reserve medical squadron at Peterson Air Force Base is retiring.

Col. Sheldon Omi is stepping down this month after almost 30 years in the military.

Omi is a dentist. He joined the 302nd Aeromedical Staging Squadron in 2008 and has been its commander since 2010.

He also served at Buckley Air Force Base in Aurora and at the Air Force Academy.
