Colorful Auroras light up the Arctic sky

Iurie Belegurschi snapped this image in Iceland of the Aurora Borealis, often called the "Northern Lights." She sent the picture to SpaceWeather.com and said, "I am happy to announce the opening of Aurora Season in Iceland!" The picture was taken early Monday morning as auroras increase within the Arctic Circle.

Ray Mckenzie contributed his own picture to SpaceWeather.com of an aurora over Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.

Space weather forecasters with NOAA say more auroras are possible through early Tuesday, mainly within or near the Arctic Circle.
