Colorado unemployment rate increases in June

More Coloradans lost work last month, according to newly released jobs data.

The report shows state unemployment increased to 7%. In May, the unemployment rate was 6.9%. Colorado is fairly middle of the road when it comes to unemployment. Half of U.S. states have better jobless rates, half have worse.

Nationally, the Labor Department says fewer American applied for unemployment benefits last week. The number of applications fell by 24,000 last week to a seasonally adjusted 334,000. The less volatile four-week average dropped by 5,250 to 351,000.
