Colorado Springs to make money from vending machines

The City of Colorado Springs has contracted with a single company to provide vending and beverages.  Canteen Vending has agreed to pay the City at least $45,000 a year.  Previously snack and beverage machines in city facilities were under individual ownership and handled by multiple suppliers.  The City received only minimal revenue from the sale of those items.

Canteen Vending has also agreed to become a partner sponsor, beginning in 2011, to work towards returning the Fabulous Fourth to Memorial Park.

The City will also pilot a public service advertising program in partnership with the Colorado Department of Transportation with parking stripe advertising placed in targeted, city-owned areas. This will include several blocks on Tejon Street in the downtown area, Sertich Ice Arena parking and two parking lots adjacent to city softball fields.
