The City of Colorado Springs has sold its second police helicopter in an online auction for $179,200, according to Steve Berry of Colorado Springs Utilities. CSU is in charge of selling excess city property.
The other helicopter was sold earlier this year. Combined, the sales price is just shy of $350,000.
The money comes as a blessing to the city, strapped by hard economic times. It also relieves the city of paying maintenance on the aging helicopters, which were free surplus from the federal government.
