Saturday was a good day for Colorado Springs teams at both the state high school swim meet and the state track and field championships.
Fountain-Fort Carson won the 5A boys state track team title while the Classical Academy boys and girls won the 3A titles on the final day of the 3-day state meet in Lakewood. A number of Colorado springs athletes won individual state titles.
Lewis-Palmer won its second straight 4A boys swimming championship. Cheyenne Mountain came in third. Three local athletes set new records at the swim meet. Lewis Palmer's Ryan Arata broke the 4A record while winning his second straight state title in the 100-yard butterfly. Cheyenne Mountain senior Patrick Scally won the 500-yard freestyle and set a new record in the process. Pueblo South swimmer Tanner Krall won the state title and set a new 4A record in the 100 breaststroke.
