Hundreds gathered Saturday afternoon to celebrate the memory of David Hames. Hames was killed in Haiti after the hotel he was in collapsed during the earthquake. Even as he's memorialized, his wife Renee still can't help but ask why. "It's still hard. It's still unbelievable." she says, "I still sometimes can't understand why this has happened. I love him dearly and I miss him"
For his mother Arlene Horenovsky, the pain is never ending. "I only wish for all of the mothers in the world to not have to have that experience" she says with a tear in her eye. But through all of it, the memory of a man loved by so many is undeniable. "He was just amazing!" Arlene says, "Very very sweet and very caring."
Renee Hames still wears their wedding rings around her neck. "I figured I'd keep them close to my heart." she says. Her guiding light is the same faith that fueled David's passion to help others and to be a perfect husband and father. "I feel like there is a plan for me and my boys and I just have to be faithful and hold on to that hope." she says.
