Colorado Springs police looking for armed robbers from weekend

Colorado Springs police are investigating armed robberies over the weekend and one early Monday morning.

Saturday at the Family Dollar store on South Spruce St. a man threatened the clerk with a stun gun and a knife around 7:30 pm. He had a stun gun and a knife and demanded that the clerk take him to the cashier. Store employees say he didn't get away with much.

Then, on Sunday, two 7-11 stores were robbed by men saying they had weapons. One was on South Circle Drive just after midnight where a man implied he had a weapon and demanded money, according to police. The other robbery was at a 7-11 on Astrozon Blvd. Police say he entered the store armed with a sharp object, possibly a knife, and demanded money from the clerk.

Monday morning, just after midnight, a Loaf and Jug convenience store on Airport Road was robbed by a man with a weapon.

Police point out that these types of crime scenes happen fast, but there are some pieces of information that are more helpful than others for police when it comes to giving descriptions.

"Any unique characteristics about the suspect; does he have a tattoo, does she have a tattoo, maybe multiple earrings, a birthmark, a mole, and even the teeth features -- are they missing any teeth, do they have gold teeth? So, as much as you can remember that's going to be more helpful to us," explains Barbara Miller, spokesperson for the Colorado Springs Police Department.

Miller also says cell phone videos and pictures can help, but she stresses that you should call 911 before taking any pictures so they can have units heading to the scene.

Here are descriptions that police are looking for from the robberies over the weekend:

Family Dollar store -- 22 N Spruce St. -- A black male, mid 30's, 5'5" - 6", heavy build entered the store. The suspect had a stun gun and a knife and directed the employee to the cash register.

7-11 store -- 5 S. Circle Drive -- According to police they're looking for a white male, 25-years old, 5'4", reddish-blonde hair, and with a 1-2 inch goatee wearing a blue hooded-sweatshirt. Police say the man implied he had a weapon and demanded money.

7-11 store -- 3877 Astrozon Blvd. -- Police say their suspect is a black male, in his 30's, 5'9" medium build, wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans. The suspect had another shirt wrapped around his head at the time of the robbery. Police say he entered the store armed with a sharp object, possibly a knife, and demanded money from the clerk.
