SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - Caydee Denney and John Coughlin kept their "streak" alive, winning their first pairs title at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships on Sunday.
Denney and Coughlin had won the last two U.S. titles, but with other partners. This partnership is clearly their best yet and might just give the Americans hope of ending their long international medal drought in pairs skating. Denney and Coughlin, who train at the Colorado Springs World Arena, won with a final score of 189.70 points, three ahead of Mary Beth Marley and Rockne Brubaker.
Amanda Evora and Mark Ladwig, runners-up the last two years, dropped to third after a flawed free skate.
