Colorado Springs, CO - On Thursday morning around 1:30am, a CSPD officer was in the area of E Platte Ave and Pitkin Ave when he observed a suspicious vehicle leaving the parking lot of a closed business. The officer made a u-turn and attempted to catch up to the vehicle. The suspicious vehicle sped away from the officer and turned west on Boulder St from Platte Ave. As the officer turned onto Iowa Ave he observed the vehicle parked on the side of Iowa Ave and a suspect wearing dark clothing, a dark baseball cap, blue pants and a dark jacket running from the vehicle. While on perimeter another officer was advised of a person lying in the backyard on the 400 block of Swope Ave. Officers immediately engaged the suspect and with the help of other officers the suspect was taken into custody. When officers contacted the suspect he had a large amount of blood on his face and appeared to have suffered an unknown head injury. During the investigation officers checked the area and were able to find a gun the suspect dropped as well as the keys to the suspect's vehicle. The suspect was also in possession of brass knuckles. There were burglary tools in the suspect vehicle. The suspect was identified as 36 years old Jason Flynn. It was also determined that Flynn had several outstanding warrants for his arrest to include an escape warrant from the Colorado Department of Corrections. The suspect was arrested for Possession of Burglary Tools, Possession of a Weapon by Previous Offender, Possession of a Dangerous Weapon and traffic charges.
