Colorado Springs gymnastics coach Douglas Boger has been fired according to his former employer, Mike Zapp of Artsports in Colorado Springs.
Boger was let go in the midst of a major investigation into allegations he sexually and physically abused young female gymnasts in the 80s. The statement Zapp sent to News 5 simply reads, "Because of the allegations posed against Doug Boger he will no longer be working for Artsports."
In a letter addressed to Boger in January 2010 by USA Gymnastics, at least 10 gymnasts came forward about the alleged years of abuse. Boger was tried for abuse in the early 80's and was found not guilty. Now with the new allegations, USA Gymnastics has placed him on the Permanently Ineligible Members list.
Tonight we're speaking with a former gymnast who says Boger sexually abused her for years. She's one of the 10 who have come out against their former coach. We'll have that story tonight on News 5 at 10.
