A recent survey by the Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce shows that half of the city's businesses say they are doing better this year compared to this same time last year.
That's good news for Ashleigh Cohen who bought Raven's Nest Coffee in the Springs just a few months ago. At 26 she realized at a young age what she wanted to do, "I was in social services before and was really unhappy where I was at and always wanted to work for myself & have my own business," says Cohen.
She's not the only one, the Chamber says when the economy's down, small businesses start popping up, "It's actually a great time to start a news business, if you're out of work, or looking for a change," says Jennifer Furda with the Chamber of Commerce.
The chamber also asked owners in their survey, how they expect to be doing in the coming months, and again 50-percent said they expect business to get even better.
The chamber always has good resources, click here to go to their website.
If you want to check out Raven's Nest coffee it's located at the intersection of Institute St. & Boulder St. in the Springs.
