Christmas came early for the Pueblo Transit. Today the City of Colorado Springs delivered five used buses to Pueblo and ceremoniously handed over the titles.
Pueblo Transit is receiving the buses at no cost, but assumes responsibility for interest owed to the federal government if the buses aren't used.
Colorado Springs had the option to sell them, but Pueblo says the two transits have a good working relationship so they got them for free. "When it comes down to transit we have always counted on the City of Colorado Springs for any help or assistance so we are friends when it comes to transit," said Brenda Broyles, Director of Pueblo Transit.
The buses are about 11 years old and worth nearly $400,000. Pueblo Transit says this will increase their fleet to 24 buses.
