Colorado Springs considers fire ban

Wildfires across Southern Colorado have prompted some cities and counties to bring back fire restrictions but, Colorado Springs has never lifted burn restrictions put in place in April. Now the Colorado Springs Fire Marshal is considering a

Fire Marshal, Brett Lacey has been following all the near-by fires in other counties, while also observing fire danger getting worse in Colorado Springs. "Because of the way the weather patterns have set up, because of temperatures and the way resources in our surrounding cooperative have been decreased we may go into bans very shortly," says Lacey

He says the current fire situation is nearing conditions in 2002 when the devastating Hayman fire in nearby Teller and Douglas Counties went into Colorado's record books.
