Western Colorado residents who say they're already getting sick from odors from natural gas operations are worried about the effects of 200 more wells proposed for the area.
Residents gathered Wednesday in Battlement Mesa to air complaints about nausea, dizziness, coughing and burning eyes they say are caused by the nearby operations of Antero Resources. State regulators say they have issued a notice of an alleged violation against Antero.
But Battlement Mesa residents say they're concerned about the new wells Antero wants to drill considering the existing problems. Jon Black of Antero says the company is working with the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, the agency that regulates the industry, on minimizing the odors.
