Colorado Republicans busy choosing representatives for their Convention

DENVER (AP) - Colorado Republicans are choosing more delegates for the Republican National Convention this summer, and Democrats are starting a state assembly of their own.

The GOP meets in groups by congressional district on Friday afternoon in Denver. They'll each pick three delegates for the Republican National Convention and talk about the presidential race, though it appears former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney appears certain to win the GOP nomination.

Todays' GOP assemblies will also pick favorites for Congress. The only incumbent facing a challenge is Rep. Doug Lamborn from Colorado Springs, a conservative who has sometimes clashed with other party members.

Democrats open their state convention Friday in Pueblo, but little is at stake. No congressional hopefuls face a challenge and President Barack Obama is not being challenged.
