Colorado programs that help the homeless have received $1.8 million in federal grants.
That includes Homeward Pikes Peak in Colorado Springs, which has received nearly $149,000. We called today to find out what they will use the money for and they said they will be able to provide housing and services for about five people.
Homeward Pikes Peak has helped get people off the streets since 2003. They currently help about 32 people but are prepared to take on more, partly with help from this grant.
The Denver based Del Norte Neighborhood Development Corp. will get nearly $1.5 million for projects and the Grand Valley Catholic Outreach in Grand Junction has received about $251,000.
