For the second time in a week, a Colorado Powerball player has matched five of the six numbers drawn to win $1 million.
The ticket holder matched all five white numbers drawn Saturday, and had purchased the Power Play option to multiply the prize. Saturday's winning numbers were 18-20-34-36-and-39. The Powerball was 19 and the multiplier was 3.
Power Play tickets that match all five white numbers automatically win $1 million, regardless of the multiplier. There's no word yet on where the winning ticket was purchased.
Cheryl Johnson of Thornton won $1 million by matching the five white numbers drawn Sept. 19. She bought her ticket at the Smart Stop, at 5315 Marshall St., in Arvada. Thirteen other tickets sold across the country without Power Play matched the first five numbers Saturday to win $200,000. The jackpot is expected to grow to an estimated $170 million for Wednesday.
Powerball was created in 1992 and launched in Colorado in 2001. It's now played in 30 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
